HOME SHOW-Fall Edition, September 14-16: HGTV Star Vern Yip & Celebrity Chefs to Appear

The HBA’s Home Show-Fall Edition, a Kansas City tradition is back, Friday, September 14, through Sunday, September 16 at the Overland Park Convention Center. Visitors will see hundreds of exhibits & meet the experts of home improvement as the season changes to autumn. This vibrant market place will have new home products and services, decorating, design and cooking demonstrations and the latest remodeling ideas.
The Spaces Show Stage will feature HGTV Star Vern Yip Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. He will share his eclectic design tips and meet and greet show patrons. Vern’s HGTV projects include Deserving Design with Vern Yip, HGTV Design Star, HGTV Urban Oasis, and Bang for Your Buck. He’s also known for his four seasons on TLC’s Trading Spaces and appearances on NBC’s Home Intervention.
“As an architect and designer, my goal is to inspire and ignite creativity in my audience by focusing on both how to create wonderful home design without breaking the bank and techniques for making the best use of space, remarked Vern Yip, HGTV Design Star. “I look forward to seeing a great audience and for creative interaction during my presentations.”
Local celebrity chefs also will be part of the programming that will feature Jasper Mirabile, owner and executive chef of Jaspers, Mark Webster, executive chef of The New Theatre Restaurant, Jeff Martin, finalist on the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars and co-owner of Smallcakes, and Shannon Kimball, owner and chef of Fire Bug BBQ. In addition, Jasper Mirabile will do his 710AM radio show Live! From Jasper’s Kitchen from the Home Show Stage on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. Local HGTV favorite Jennifer Bertrand will emcee the Spaces Home Show Stage and will offer her expertise on a variety of design subjects.
“The Overland Park Convention Center is a beautiful space and we are excited to provide such a great showcase for area businesses. Featuring both design elements and cooking elements on-stage we hope to attract a wide range of consumers who enjoy upgrading their living and entertainment space.” said Lori Kodanaz, director of Consumer and Trade shows. “I want to encourage any business interested in participating to contact us. This will be a unique and vibrant event for all.”

Home Show-Fall Edition hours will be Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Parking is FREE. Tickets are $7.00 for adults, online tickets are $6, military and senior are $6, and kids 12-and-under are free. On Sunday, September 16, attendees who donate 3 cans of food or $3 to Harvester’s will receive a 2-for-1 admission.
