Kansas City Area Single Family Permits Top 5000 (Nov. 2016)

Kansas City area homebuilders continued their increased activity, with 412 single family units permitted during November, bringing the year-to-date total to 5,144, according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City’s (HBA) monthly Residential Building Permit Statistics report. This is a 20% gain over last’s years January through November permit count.

“Builder sentiment is strong and we can look forward to growth in the single-family market in the year ahead as the industry adds workers and lots and Washington policymakers provide regulatory relief for small businesses.” Said National Association of Home Builders chairman Ed Brady.

Several area cities have experienced remarkable growth in permits during 2016:  Belton with 102 units in 2016, compared to 13 in 2015; Harrisonville has increased from 10 to 52; and Louisburg has issued 46 permits this year with only 7 last year.  Overall, the 10 busiest cities have a 16% increase – with a total 2,918 permits issued by them in 2015 and 3,375 issued in 2016.  Kansas City continues to top the list with 1,024 permits; it is followed by Olathe, Overland Park, Lee’s Summit and Kansas City, KS/Wyandotte County.
