KCHBA Members are “Bringing Housing Home”
KCHBA members met with Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (Kansas, 2nd District) and Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (Missouri, 5th District) for the National Association of Home Builder’s Bringing Housing Home™ 2015 Legislative Conference. Members thanked both Congresswoman Jenkins and Congressman Cleaver for their support and spoke about pressing national issues that affect the home building industry and consumers, such as protecting the mortgage interest deduction, EPA regulations, President Obama’s Floodplain Executive Order, housing finance reform, labor shortages/immigration reform, and congressional gridlock. KCHBA members also asked Congresswoman Jenkins to co-sponsor new legislation, H.R. 1273, a bill to foster the development of energy efficiency baselines for buildings while ensuring that home builders are not burdened by unreasonable regulations. Congressman Cleaver, as the Ranking Democratic member of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance, was asked for any assistance he could provide to mitigate the impact of the President’s floodplain executive order and EPA regulations on development and housing.
