FHA Allows First-Time Buyers to Use Tax Credit at Closing |

During an address to the NAHB Board of Directors, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan announced a plan that will allow first-time buyers qualifying for the $8,000 tax credit and obtaining an FHA loan to use the funds at closing for a down payment and other costs.

Local New-Home Permits Post Second-Straight Double-Digit Gain
Metrowide housing starts jumped upward for the second straight month in May and posted the best monthly activity in six months, according to statistics compiled by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City (HBA). The organization reported a seasonally adjusted total of 188 single-family homes permitted in May, up 25 percent from the revised total of 151 homes permitted in April.
