Animals, Activities Among Family Fun at Fall HOME SHOW
The 2007 HOME SHOW – Fall Edition at Bartle Hall is the perfect place to pick up tips for home renovation or construction, yet it can be a fun weekend event for the whole family as well. While parents shop for the home improvement products and services they want, there are plenty of fun activities to keep the entire family entertained as well throughout the show Oct. 19-21.
While parents can benefit from the informative hands-on do-it-yourself workshop seminars, kids can also join in on the fun in building their own woodworks to take home by participating in the Home Depot Kid’s Workshop presentations. The workshops take place daily on the Remodeling State inside “The NARI Neighborhood … A Remodeling Showcase” feature area.
Little ones can also enjoy bringing in the fall season by participating in the Paint-A-Pumpkin craft area. The Mid-Continent Public Library also features an array of performers including acclaimed storytellers, magicians and musicians along with “Reading to Dogs,” and opportunity for kids to read a story to a dog all by themselves.
Families can walk away from the HOME SHOW – Fall Edition with plenty of products and information for their home, and they can pick up a new addition to the family as well. Visitors can check out the pet adoption corner to learn information about bringing a new friend into the family and even take home a feline companion. Wayside Waifs and Forever Friends will be featuring cats available for adoption while Greyhound Pets educates families about adopting retired greyhounds.
A favorite for the entire family at the HOME SHOW – Fall Edition are the colorful, exotic and playful birds of the Wings of Love. The Wings of Love features a wide variety of birds including toucans, macaws and cockatoos. Seeing the birds of Wings of Love is an opportunity to view rare and captivating birds while learning more about the different species and their habitats including the rainforests. This year’s display will also features the group’s newest addition, a six-month old Eagle-owl named Swoop. Display times for the Wings of Love are Friday, Oct. 19 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 3-5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon and 2-4 p.m.
