Furry Friends, Curious Fun Thrill Families at HOME SHOW

From the high-flying acrobatics of Kansas City’s top disc dogs to discoveries and adventures for kids of all ages, the Greater Kansas City HOME SHOW and Flower, Lawn & Garden Show, presented by GMC, continues its 60-year tradition of making family fun an integral part of entertaining – an educating – everyone who visits the show. This year’s “Big Show” comes to Bartle Hall March 27-30.

Among the highlights of this year’s show will be performances by the Kansas City Disc Dogs, a local organization of dogs and their owners who enjoy playing Frisbee for both fun and competition. The dogs will display their amazing skills and athleticism during performances all four days of the show.

Many of the stars of the Kansas City Disc Dogs were rescued from local shelters, and the Wayside Waifs pet adoption center at the show annually ranks as one of the largest adoption events of the year for the local humane society and animal welfare organization. The Kansas City Disc Dogs Stage and Wayside Waifs are part of the Pet Product Showcase at the show where animal lovers can find the latest products to pamper their pets as well as meet a new furry friend to adopt and take home.

For kids attending this year’s show, the Flower, Lawn & Garden Show is home to Camp Curious, an interactive collection of science discoveries, reading tents and appearances by Curious George himself. Camp Curious will feature a series of shows and presentations throughout the weekend featuring competitors from the First Robotics and First Lego leagues, science experiments and magic displays. Camp Curious for Kids is presented by Johnson County Public Library and Mid-Continent Public Library and will be open 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday; noon to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Inside the Flower, Lawn & Garden Show, kids will also have the chance to decorate and plant a garden pot of their very own to take home and enjoy. The Powell Gardens Paint-a-Pot activity area provides kids the opportunity to get their first experience with gardening by digging in the dirt and tending to a plant of their very own while having fun decorating the flower pot.

For 60 years, the HOME SHOW has provided families with fun and entertainment along with the latest information on products and services for the home and garden. The HOME SHOW and Flower, Lawn & Garden Show is produced by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City featuring more than 650 exhibiting companies and thousands of  products, gadgets and services for inside and outside the home.
