Gardens, Gadgets Highlight Flower, Lawn & Garden Show

Anyone working in their lawn and garden knows a simple truth – mistakes are part of the game. For every master gardener, there’s a laundry list of missteps, blunders and catastrophes. There are no easy answers and quick fixes, but there is one way to reduce mistakes, get inspiration and find the tools and resources you need to make your lawn and garden first-rate. All it takes is asking for help at the Greater Kansas City HOME SHOW and Flower, Lawn & Garden Show.

This year’s show returns to Bartle Hall March 27-30 with a full lineup of skilled gardeners to provide expert advice, hundreds of exhibitors showcasing the latest tools and equipment and 11 spectacular gardens from the top local landscape artists celebrating the great outdoors to provide the inspiration you need to get started on the lawn and garden of your dreams.

Among the experts at this year’s show are two of America’s leading garden authorities. Paul James, host of HGTV’s Gardening by the Yard, specializes in overcoming the very same challenges Kansas City gardeners face – and he shares his wisdom in an exciting and entertaining fashion. James will be appearing on the Outdoor Living Stage presented by Time Warner Cable Saturday and Sunday at the show along with “The Renegade Gardener” Don Engebretson. An award-winning garden journalist, Engebretson will showcase dozens of cool container gardens for inspiration and share the most common blunders every gardener makes – and how to avoid them.

The Flower, Lawn & Garden Show is best known for it spectacular gardens, and this year is no exception with 11 different creations from the area’s top landscaping companies and organizations. Taking part in this year’s show are the Water Garden Society of Greater Kansas City, Changing Seasons Landscaping, Classic Scapes, Hall’s Landscape Design, R & S Lawn and Sprinkler, Dreamscapes Landscape & Irrigation Inc., Englewood Botanical Garden, Precision Creations Inc., Comprehensive Lawn Solutions LLC, By the Blade Lawn & Landscape and Midwest Block & Brick Inc.

For gardeners inspired at the show and ready to hit their ground running when they get home, the show features hundreds of tools, gadgets and machines designed to make digging in the dirt a bit easier. The Plant Sale hosted by Bird’s Botanicals and Dutch Touch Perennials features an array of bedding plants and varieties of orchids and tropicals ready to take home.
