Mark Hoffman
Elected President of Home Builders Association
The Home Builders Association
of Greater Kansas City (HBA) inaugurated
home builder Mark Hoffman as the organization’s
2006 president during ceremonies at the
HBA Inaugural Gala in December at the
Westin Crown Center Hotel.
Hoffman, who
served as HBA vice president during
the past year, is also president
of home-building firm Hoffman Construction
Inc., which has been a member of the
HBA since 1994. Hoffman has served
on numerous committees and taskforces
for
the association, was chairman of the
HBA Missouri North Council and is a
member of the Board of Directors for
both the
HBA and the National Association of
Home Builders.
As HBA president, Hoffman
said the association would expand partnerships
to advocate
for more housing choices for new home
buyers throughout the metropolitan
area.
“Historically low mortgage rates
have masked a whole laundry list of barriers
to housing affordability,” Hoffman
said. “At a time when record demand
has driven up the costs of land, labor
and materials, local cities and municipalities
have approved unprecedented building
and development fees that have helped
to drive the average cost of a new home
in the metro area to nearly $260,000.
“The HBA is both a resource and
a gathering place. It’s a vast
clearinghouse of information for guidance
and education, not just for our members
but for government officials and the
public as well. It is also a place for
us to come together as a group, working
as one to make the voice of our customers
heard.”
Joining Hoffman on the
2006 HBA Executive Committee are Vice
President Mike Brown,
Brown Midwest LC; Secretary/Treasurer
George Schluter, GWS Inc.; Immediate
Past President Bruce Rieke, B.L. Rieke & Associates
Inc.; Associate Representative Erik Blaney,
Shamrock Cabinet; Past President Representative
Tom Woods, T.E. Woods Construction; Associates
Council Chair Donna Williams, North American
Savings Bank; Sales & Marketing Council
Chair Tammy Henderson, Hunt Midwest Real
Estate Development Inc.; Kansas Council
Chair Brad True, True Builders Inc.;
Missouri North Council Chair Stephen
Anderson, Crownridge Homes Inc.; Missouri
South Council Chair Shawn Woods, T.E.
Woods Construction; and HBA Executive
Vice President Tim Underwood.
The Home Builders Association
(HBA) of Greater Kansas City is the voice
of the housing industry and the source
for housing information. Comprising more
than 1,000 member companies, the HBA represents
an industry that contributes approximately
$2.5 billion to the Kansas City economy,
and supports more than 36,000 jobs in
the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area.
