KCTV-5’s
Katie Horner Wins HOME SHOW-Fall Edition
Celebrity Designer Room Competition
Prize is $500 donation to Project Warmth
The room designed
for KCTV-5 meteorologist Katie Horner
was the top choice of visitors
at the Celebrity Designer Room collection
during the HOME SHOW—Fall Edition,
presented by Complete Home Concepts,
Oct. 24-26 at Bartle Hall. For winning
the top prize, Horner received a $500
donation to the charity of her choice,
Project Warmth in Kansas City.
Horner’s designer room, “Twinkle,
Twinkle Little Baby’s Room,” was
created by interior designer Mindy Arnold
of Your Décor. The choice of a
baby’s nursery was a perfect fit
for Horner and Arnold, both of whom were
expectant mothers during the design process.
The nursery included a baby’s crib
with a cast-iron canopy, a soft palette
of colors and textured fabrics such as
soft chenille. Nursery rhyme phrases
and images on the walls completed the
comfortable and unique design for the
room.
“The custom bedding
and window treatments pull the texture
and colors
together, and the artistic flare to the
walls stands out,” said Arnold,
who gave birth to a son the morning the
show opened.. “The mix of iron
and wood furniture give the room that
homey-feel that it needed tobe Katie’s
dream nursery.”
“I’m so excited that the
room designed for me by Mindy was chosen
as the favorite by visitors to the HOME
SHOW—Fall Edition,” Horner
said. “Mindy did a wonderful job
and I’m happy for her and her family.
I also thank the Home Builders Association
for the donation to Project Warmth. The
$500 donation will buy a lot of coats
this winter.”
The Celebrity Designer
Room concept matched favorite area
personalities with
members of the local chapter of American
Society of Interior Designers to create
settings that captured the tastes and
interests of the celebrities taking part.
The rooms were on display throughout
the HOME SHOW—Fall Edition this
past weekend and visitors to the show
took part in voting to determine the
winning room.
Other rooms in the Celebrity Designer
Room collection included:

City” designed for Kansas City, Mo.,
