HBA puts final touches
on The Lighthouse Preschool project
Members of the Home Builders
Association of Greater Kansas City will
hold a work day from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday,
July 8, to complete landscaping projects
at The Lighthouse Preschool, located at
8630 N. Oak Trafficway.
The HBA's Missouri North
Area Council adopted the school as a community
service project last year. During that
time, HBA members have contributed services,
products and funds to construct and install
new playground equipment and a playground
surface; complete repairs to the building's
roof and guttering; install laminate wall
protectors in the commons areas; install
a new furnace and make repairs to the
school's heating and cooling systems;
and make other needed repairs to the building.
The Lighthouse Preschool
provides early intervention and therapy
for children age five years and younger
with special needs. Sixty percent of the
children attending the Lighthouse Preschool
have special needs and the other 40 percent
are typically developing children. The
Lighthouse Preschool serves 110 children.
The HBA's Missouri North
Area Council will receive national recognition
Aug. 22 when The Lighthouse Preschool
project is profiled in USA Today as part
of the National Association of Home Builders'
Home Builders Care 2000 program.
HBA members who have contributed
to The Lighthouse Preschool project include
Larry Vaught Roofing Inc.; Model Stone's
Complete Home Concepts; Mid-General Homes
Inc.; Royal Seamless Guttering Inc.; Allen
Baker Construction LLC; Damon Pursell
Construction Company; Robertson Plumbing;

and Dobberstine Custom Homes Inc.
The Home Builders Association
(HBA) of Greater Kansas City is the voice

for housing information. Comprising more
than 1,000 member companies, the HBA represents
an industry that contributes more than
2.5 billion dollars to the Kansas City
economy and supports more than 36,000
jobs in the Greater Kansas City metropolitan
